Daylilies by the Lake

Daylilies by the Lake
Whitney, Texas

We would like to welcome you to ‘Daylilies by the Lake’.  We are located southwest of Ft. Worth, Texas near Lake Whitney.  What started off 10 years ago in trying to find a plant that would flower and still survive the brutal Texas summers has turned into a passion!

The past year has been a year of major changes.  We bought a new home with 6.5 acres in August, then sold our 20 acre farm in November (had 2 weeks to build new beds and move all the plants to the new house, never again) so we had to drastically reduce our number of daylilies.  We are still in the process of building  more new beds and trying to get everything back in order.

When we first got started, the first daylily book we read was Bill Munson’s, “Hemerocallis, The Daylily”. We grow other plants besides daylilies, but they are our main passion. Crinums, cannas, Lily of the Nile and other heat tolerant perennials share the area with the daylilies. In truth, many different things have caught our eye and we include them too.  We occasionally sell daylilies, but due to our job taking us all over the country we are limited as to the times we can sell.

We hope you enjoy the pictures, the links, some of the humor, and maybe they will inspire you to grow daylilies also!
